We Have A Great Vibe in Raleigh!

It's no secret we live a great place, just ask Amazon and Apple. Two amazing projects are underway in our city that citizens should take time to notice and get involved; Dix Park and the Southeast Raleigh YMCA. I recently had the opportunity to tour both these sites and am sure these places will energize and enhance our community in different ways for decades to come.

Earlier this summer a group of architects and designers gathered to brainstorm about the evolution of the Dix Park area. Their work can be seen ON THIS WEBSITE and offers our community a literal blank slate on the future development of the Western Boulevard corridor. As Raleigh evolves from town to city, planners will be making decisions that will impact how our city lives, works and plays through the 21st century. We are excited to host a luncheon on October 9th featuring Kate Pearce, Planning Supervisor for the Dix Park project. She will discuss development plans for the 308 acre site. Please give us a call if you'd like to attend.

Equally important is the work of the Triangle Area YMCA, which is spearheading a unique project in Southeast Raleigh. The YMCA is transforming a 32 acre parcel off Rock Quarry Road into a hub of healthful living with an elementary school, YMCA and affordable housing. The collaboration between the YMCA, SOUTHEAST RALEIGH PROMISE, and PURPOSE BUILT COMMUNITIES will uplift an area of our community too often ignored.

Vision and leadership in action..........perhaps Raleigh has a new slogan.
