If you are curious about what’s going on in the market or economy, we’d like to share some charts / graphics that we think are insightful.
Interest Rates Impact on Government. Recent data from the Treasury reveals that the US government currently spends an average of $3 billion per day on interest expenses.
If the Federal Reserve reduces interest rates by 1 percentage point and the entire yield curve decreases by 1 percentage point, daily interest expenses would drop from $3 billion to $2.5 billion.
S&P Returns by Month. September has historically been a poor performing month for the stock market. The S&P has ended lower 56% of the time over the 1928-2023 stretch, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
Health Insurance Affordability Gap. The average US family health insurance premium increased 288% from 1999 to 2022. That equates to 6.4% per year, which is 2.5x higher than the overall rate of inflation (CPI) during this period.
